It's All About the Kids

March 10, 2017

Chance the Rapper's million dollar contribution earlier this week has inspired us!  It has touched us so much, that we now want to join the movement and give back to the arts in Chicago.  Two of Painting to Gogh's co-founders, Vikas and Shashin, are both Chicago Public School (CPS) products and the City of Chicago and CPS are topics that are very near to their hearts.  Both know first hand just how badly CPS needs funding, especially the arts, as it's education system is one of the most severely underfunded systems in the nation.  After years of being underfunded, the Chicago Public Schools system has been forced to cut teachers, supplies, the arts, and after school programs.  Despite having already cut $260 million in costs internally, CPS was still left with a $215 million gap in their budget as of May 2016.

To help the movement that Chance has started, we will donate all the profits we make from our Sunset in Chicago painting experience to Chance's nonprofit group Social Works (until May 31, 2017).  Social Works seeks to empower youth through arts, education and civic engagement - they work directly with CPS. We at Painting to Gogh believe that arts education is very important and powerful, so this is one way we can make a big difference.  Thank you Chance for inspiring us, and thank you to all of our customers that will join in on our journey! Paint for a great cause today!
