Who's teaching this

A Real Artist, Not A Stock Instructor

Amy Brauer is an artist from Chattanooga, TN. (If you listen closely, you might catch her saying “y’all” now and then, bless her heart!) When she’s not teaching painting, you’ll find her planning parties, cooking Italian food, and creating custom pet portraits. Amy loves painting so much, she always signs her paintings with a kiss!

Real Reviews From Real Couples

Here's What Couples Had To Say

  1. Terry

This is the sixth of our Painting to Gogh sessions, which we enjoy doing as a painting party. This was the first time we had Amy as an instructor. This one was the longest of the six. We had to perform a lot of mixing of the paints and at times the instructions were hard to follow, but it was a fun project. Amy talked about her time on a beach where sharks were in the waters, so I added a shark fin that was not part of the instructions. It is fun to ad lib. My wife added a bat instead of a gull.

  2. Did this with my daughter. It was alot of fun.

  3. Long but worth it!

This was the second painting I've done following Amy and she was fun to follow along with as always. Full of tips, stories, and enthusiasm! This painting does take a long time to do so if you're someone who just wants something on the easier/quicker side, this isn't it. I think the video is 2 hours and almost 15 minutes. Most of the others I've done are an hour, give or take 15 minutes. The time and work do pay off, however! This was done for my roommate as a Christmas gift since she loves the beach. I think it turned out okay but there IS alot of mixing of colors in this one and if you can't seem to mix the colors properly no matter how much you try to get it, you wind up with brown hills instead of tan sand dunes like I did, which really frustrated me, but I'm no professional and this was done for fun so I take it for what it is. Still turned out okay in my eyes and I had a great time doing it!

  4. Date Nights!

Did a date night with my hubby and ended up spreading it out over 2 nights! Really enjoyed this one. I turned my bikini into a tankini to make it more realistic since I would never wear a bikini. We wanted to do something personal to each others paintings so I did the birds on his side and he put our initials in the sand on my side. That gave us a true sense of doing it together. We hung them in our camper!

  5. Fun with the grandkids

Had an awesome time with some of the grandkids. Being able to stop and start and rewind the video was the best part. It allowed the kids on all different levels to be successful. We will be doing it again really soon!

Stuff couples ask

Frequently Asked Questions

Which kit do we want?

Studio if you've never done this before. Easels, brushes, paints, canvases, palettes, aprons, and the video. Essentials skips the easels, if you have a flat surface to put the canvas on. Refill is for couples coming back for another night, just the canvases and paints.

What's a diptych?

Two canvases that read as one painting when they're hung next to each other. You each paint half, then they line up on the wall. Think one wide painting, split in two.

Neither of us has painted before. Will this work?

Yes. Most people who buy this have never picked up a brush. The video is built for first-timers, the artist breaks every step down, and you can pause whenever one of you is behind. Nobody's grading you.

How long does this take?

Most couples finish both canvases in about 1.5 to 2 hours. Plan a 2-hour evening if you want time to set up and snack and not feel rushed.

Can I paint a diptych on my own?

Yes. Switch the selector at the top to Solo and you get a one-person version at a one-person price. You can paint both halves on the same horizontal canvas.

When does my kit get here?

Standard delivery: typically 2 to 5 business days, free over $60. Ships from our Chicago, IL warehouse.

Video access unlocks as soon as you place your order, so you can preview before the box gets there.

We're long distance. Can we still do this?

Yes, and it's actually one of our favorite uses for this. Order a Solo kit to each address, jump on FaceTime, press play at the same time and have a shared memory wherever you are.

How do I get access to the video tutorial?

Immediately after your purchase, you will receive an email with a unique link to your video tutorial. You can play the tutorial on any internet-connected device of your choice. The link is accessible for 2 years. The video tutorial can only be streamed, it cannot be downloaded.

What's the difference between the kit types?

Studio Kit includes everything two people need to paint, including two aluminum tabletop easels. Best for first-timers. Essentials Kit has the same supplies for two minus the easels; pick this if you already have your own. Refill Kit is for couples who've painted with us before (canvases, paints, brushes, and aprons only). Each tier covers two painters and includes 2 years of video tutorial access.

Where do you ship to?

We ship to all 50 US states and Canada. Need it shipped outside North America? Email customersupport@paintingtogogh.com. The video tutorial works anywhere in the world.

What colors are included in the kit?

The paint colors are customized for the specific painting you're doing. We send the exact palette the artist used, so you get the right colors out of the box without mixing. Generous quantities of each color, plenty to finish your painting.

Are the paints non-toxic?

Yes. The acrylic paints we ship are non-toxic and water-soluble. Washes off skin with soap and water, and off your countertop with a damp cloth.

How do I gift this?

Add a gift note when you add the kit to your cart and we'll hide pricing in the box. You'll get tutorial access by email after ordering. Forward that email to your recipient when the box arrives. Prefer something digital? We also sell gift cards.
