Real Reviews From Real Parents

Here's What Parents Had To Say

  1. Great for an 11 year old with a new laptop

Purchased for a creative 11-year old to use with her new laptop. It was a great hit and very easy for her to use. Pic came out great.

  2. Love Painting to Gogh

A couple of months ago I decided I wanted to learn how to paint. I had never painted anything beyond childhood and I decided to use Painting to Gogh to learn. I liked that I’d have actual pictures with each “lesson.” This is where I started and this is how it’s going. Lori, Amy B. and Wendy are who I usually choose and I would like to thank them for their excellent tutelage. You don’t have to publish this, I just wanted them to know they’ve inspired me and I have a new wonderful pastime that brings me joy. Thank you to everyone responsible for this company.

  3. Flower Painting

Very easy to follow along for my 7 year old. It came out great.

  4. Loved it

Bought this because my 6 year old says she wants to be an artist when she grows up so I wanted to let her dip her toe into art classes and thought this would be a good start before any formal classes. She is very type A personality and frequently art projects end in meltdowns when making mistakes. She did very well with this, even when she made mistakes. Perhaps some directions to kids on how to handle mistakes like an accidental bump of the brush in the wrong spot and how to paint over and cover up a mistake like dark pain in a light spot would be helpful. She’s already picked out the next one she wants to try. Even this art adverse mama found a kid one she wants to do herself haha.

  5. So much fun

My 8 year old loved painting her project. Directions on the video were very easy to follow. She was able to do the whole thing with little help.

Stuff Parents Ask

Frequently Asked Questions

What age is this for?

Most of our kids kits work for ages 6 and up. Each painting page lists the recommended age range right at the top. Younger kids do better with a grown-up alongside, which honestly is half the point.

How messy is this going to be?

The paint is non-toxic and washes off skin and most fabrics. Throw on our apron, cover the table. The palette is disposable, so you toss it when they're done. Nothing to scrub.

How long will it take?

60 to 90 minutes for most kids. The video pauses while they catch up. No rushing, no graded steps. If they want to take a snack break in the middle, that's the point.

What if they get bored halfway through?

Totally fine. The video stays unlocked for two years. They can come back next weekend, or just paint over what they started. The canvas doesn't expire.

When will it get here?

Typically delivers in 2 to 5 business days from our Chicago warehouse, free over $60. Need it sooner? Pick expedited shipping at checkout.

How do I get access to the video tutorial?

Immediately after your purchase, you will receive an email with a unique link to your video tutorial. You can play the tutorial on any internet-connected device of your choice. The link is accessible for 2 years. The video tutorial can only be streamed, it cannot be downloaded.

Where do you ship to?

We ship to all 50 US states and Canada. Need it shipped outside North America? Email customersupport@paintingtogogh.com. The video tutorial works anywhere in the world.

What colors are included in the kit?

The paint colors are customized for the specific painting you're doing. We send the exact palette the artist used, so you get the right colors out of the box without mixing. Generous quantities of each color, plenty to finish your painting.

Are the paints non-toxic?

Yes. The acrylic paints we ship are non-toxic and water-soluble. Washes off skin with soap and water, and off your countertop with a damp cloth.

How do I gift this?

Add a gift note when you add the kit to your cart and we'll hide pricing in the box. You'll get tutorial access by email after ordering. Forward that email to your recipient when the box arrives. Prefer something digital? We also sell gift cards.
