Real Reviews From Real People

Here's What People Had To Say

  1. Holiday

We had the most fun and turned out really good. Had trouble keeping web site up… so we just winged it! Great package of goodies too. Well put together. Will purchase again soon!

  2. The end result was very satisfying

Took my time with this one because I wasn't painting in a group. The instruction was good and showed that, even if you make a mistake while painting, you can fix some of it and still have it turn out well. I would recommend bringing the green background color to the bottom as well. The black the instructor painted on the base background of the bottom, I ended up painting over with the green background. I needed fewer "filler" pine needles that way, and the base black just looked out of place on my canvas. This is one of those paintings where there is room to do your own thing while staying mostly true to the representative painting, whatever you think looks good. Overall, I am pleased with the result. This is my 5th painting from Painting to Gogh. I do not have an extensive art background and my painting experience is limited to 5 Bob Ross paintings I made way back in 1996. Even beginner painters should feel confident they can do these paintings. Rule of thumb for painting these in terms of time is that, whatever the run time of the tutorial is, take that times 2 for total estimated time to paint the project. Allow time for the paint to dry where mentioned and especially after doing the red at the bottom of the candles.

  3. Painting is so pretty it seems to glow!

My mom loves Christmas, church, and candles so this painting was a perfect fit for a holiday gift. I hoped it would turn out well enough that she'd display it in her bedroom but she put it up in the most prominent spot in her home! :) I am a math-y person and about as creative/artistic as a rock, but... Thanks to the lovely young woman narrating this tutorial, who was so encouraging and explained each step clearly, I was able to make a personal, meaningful gift I couldn't be happier with.

  4. Excellent

This was the perfect painting for our group. Easy enough for beginners, but looks like it took effort. Loved the colors! All our paintings turned out beautiful.

  5. I’m hooked

I’ve been painting as an amateur for about 7 years and find these videos so very helpful. I wish there were more! Picked up some for fall, Halloween and Christmas this time. Haven’t done them all yet but I will!

Frequently Asked Questions

I've never painted before. Will I actually finish this?

When will it get here?

We ship next business day from our Chicago, IL warehouse. Standard takes 4 to 7 business days, free over $60. Need it sooner? Pick expedited at checkout, options include 2 Day Air and Next Day Air.

How long do I keep the video?

The video stays unlocked for two years. Rewatch it, paint with a friend, or grab a Refill Kit and paint the same design again. Need more time? Email customersupport@paintingtogogh.com to ask about an extension.

How many kits do I need?

Can I really create my own painting?

Yes, our tutorials are designed for beginners with no painting experience needed. Our artists will guide you from a blank canvas to the finished painting each step of the way.  We don't use pre-drawn canvases because we want you to get the full painting experience. If you're unhappy with the kit for any reason, email customersupport@paintingtogogh.com within 60 days and we'll make it right.

What's the difference between the kit types?

Studio Kit comes with everything you need to paint, including an aluminum tabletop easel. Best for first-timers. Essentials Kit has the same supplies minus the easel; pick this if you already have one or plan to set up on a flat surface. Refill Kit is for returning customers who already have an easel and brushes (canvas and paints only). Video Only gives you tutorial access without the physical kit, perfect if you have your own supplies.

The paint colors are customized for the specific painting you're doing. We send the exact palette the artist used, so you get the right colors out of the box without mixing. Generous quantities of each color, plenty to finish your painting.

Are the paints non-toxic?

Yes. The acrylic paints we ship are non-toxic and water-soluble. Washes off skin with soap and water, and off your countertop with a damp cloth.
