Real Reviews From Real People

Here's What People Had To Say

  1. Easy and beautiful

This was my 2nd painting from this site, 3rd painting ever. Came out beautiful and was easy to do. I can't believe I'm painting things worthy of being hung in my home for so inexpensive. My family is even making requests for me to paint for them. Brother loved joining me for an afternoon of drinks and painting.

  2. So much fun

This brought me out of my comfort zone and was so much. Instructions were clear and simple. I wish I would have bought it with the paint since im not the best color mixer but I still think I did pretty good.

  3. Loved loved LOVED!

I wanted to do something unique and special w my three children (all living elsewhere in the country) before my military daughter deployed. At first we all moaned since none of us are true artists but by the end, we loved it and loved how different each of our paintings turned out. My youngest, has now declared he will be doing more of these. My finicky fiancé, who has refused to do painting nights w me in the past, all of a sudden wants to buy bulk packs of canvas so we can do painting evenings together. I cannot recommend your products/services enough! I can’t wait to do it again! Thank you for making this a memorable experience, as well as giving my daughter something else to think about for a couple of hours and us, her family, some extra (fun) time w her before she left.

  4. the scream

What better painting than "the Scream" to do during a shutdown? I was a bit concerned that I wasn't going to be tracing it to paint. But the instructor on the video explained how to do it so completely and in small pieces that it actually became pretty easy. It was a great way to spend a couple hours in the afternoon and was relaxing, not stressful. I still feel like screaming at times but not because of the painting. I proudly have it hung on my wall. I look forward to doing another one from you. It is so much fun.

  5. Scream

Super fun! Very clear and easy to follow, loved the ability to pause as needed and paint at my own pace. Note that I did not buy the kit, so mixing my colors was a bit on the fly - especially as I still have no idea what butterscotch should look like, but it turned out great all the same!

Frequently Asked Questions

I've never painted before. Will I actually finish this?

When will it get here?

We ship next business day from our Chicago, IL warehouse. Standard takes 4 to 7 business days, free over $60. Need it sooner? Pick expedited at checkout, options include 2 Day Air and Next Day Air.

How long do I keep the video?

The video stays unlocked for two years. Rewatch it, paint with a friend, or grab a Refill Kit and paint the same design again. Need more time? Email customersupport@paintingtogogh.com to ask about an extension.

How many kits do I need?

One kit per person for our standard kits. Each kit has supplies for one person. Painting with someone? Add a second kit.

Are the paints safe for kids?

Yes. Our acrylic paints are made in USA, non-toxic, water-based, and safe for kids ages 8 and up. They wash off skin with soap and water (off most fabrics with a quick rinse). Apron included.

Can I really create my own painting?

Yes, our tutorials are designed for beginners with no painting experience needed. Our artists will guide you from a blank canvas to the finished painting each step of the way.  We don't use pre-drawn canvases because we want you to get the full painting experience. If you're unhappy with the kit for any reason, email customersupport@paintingtogogh.com within 60 days and we'll make it right.

What's the difference between the kit types?

Studio Kit comes with everything you need to paint, including an aluminum tabletop easel. Best for first-timers. Essentials Kit has the same supplies minus the easel; pick this if you already have one or plan to set up on a flat surface. Refill Kit is for returning customers who already have an easel and brushes (canvas and paints only). Video Only gives you tutorial access without the physical kit, perfect if you have your own supplies.

The paint colors are customized for the specific painting you're doing. We send the exact palette the artist used, so you get the right colors out of the box without mixing. Generous quantities of each color, plenty to finish your painting.

Are the paints non-toxic?

Yes. The acrylic paints we ship are non-toxic and water-soluble. Washes off skin with soap and water, and off your countertop with a damp cloth.
